Swirls and Flourishes – update

Spurred on by a recent craft show I have been playing with Illustrator and came up with a flourish that I would like to share with you.

CaptureRed one is slightly different to the blue one & I have a problem with Canvas at the moment and I can’t rotate it but when it is rotated you will see it is the self same flourish just with a more oval shaped dot.

I drew the flourish in Illustrator, created a couple of different outlines to them and then imported it into Canvas but that didn’t import it as I had drawn it.  I therefore printed off the flourish and scanned it into my machine and it worked perfectly.  Sent it through the cloud to Canvas and it showed it correctly.   I have drawn the flourish relatively large as I need it to be substantial enough when reduced to cut without problems.  As of yet I have only cut them at around 4 inches  The flourish in blue actually needs a little tweaking by me to make it perfect but I am pretty happy thus far  – will post the .svg files when I have had a chance to tweak them.

Might even have a got at making some different ones – the housework might just have to take a back seat!

I have now had a chance to download a link to the .svg file for the flourishes

and a photo of the files cut – the smallest is really quite small and it cut perfectly so possibly could go smaller although not sure you would actually need to unless you were making a tiny card.

Snowflake and Mat

SnowflakeI hope you like this, I was particularly pleased with the way it has turned out.  I was having a little ‘play’ with Illustrator using some of the different tools .

I have posted the .fcm files with it in 4 different sizes as I thought it might be fun to cut out in all the different sizes twice and they layer up front and back to make a 3D snowflake – haven’t done that as yet but will post a picture when I do.  I cut it out in basic white card this afternoon and it has cut really well – was just difficult getting off my brand new cutting mat.  I have a feeling that Brother have taken heed of the ‘lack of stickiness’ of the original mats as this one is ultra sticky so I am glad I just used basic card stock and nothing fancy!

I will post another snowflake that I made after I have had a chance to cut it and make sure it cuts ok before-hand.

Usual T & C apply.

Enjoy, Anne x.

Just to make up for being away for so long another little topper to add to your collections this time with a sort-of Christmas theme although it isn’t that obvious so could be used at any other time of the year.

Designed in Illustrator

Haven’t cut it as yet so if anyone does before me please send me your finished project as I would love to see it.

Enjoy x

Daisy Topper or Cut-out

Daisy - in card

Hi folks

Sorry I haven’t been posting much of late but here is something to make up for that.

I have done a topper that you can use as is or re-size on your card – the original size is to fit on the front of an A5 card.

The other way is as a cut-out of the actual card and again this is A5 size.  Please note if you use this configuration that I have put a border round it which is purely there to help you position the panel on the front of your A4 page.  Once you have positioned it then delete the border of you will run the risk of cutting it out of the card in error!

Usual terms apply, not for re-sale, for personal use only, thanks

Below is a photo (bit grainy, sorry) of a card I have just made using the topper

Top Tip

If you have cut a really intricate pattern and are finding it difficult to take it off the cutting mat I find the best thing to do is to actually turn the mat over (so the design is on the underside) and then actually peel the mat backwards off the design rather than trying to peel the design off the mat, it works like a treat (provided you go slowly, of course!)

Word Christmas Tree Topper

As promised here is my free cutting file – sorry to use the “C” word and it is still only summer but I know there are lots of you out there who are well on the way to not only making but completing the task – I am sadly not one of these people and even though I have made this topper it will no doubt not be used for a good few weeks as yet!

Have tried cutting it and it cuts out beautifully, have added some corners in to co-ordinate also.  I hope you enjoy it.

As per normal, you are free to use this for personal use only but the file is not for re-sale.

Golf Topper for Dads

Hi folks, thought I would share with you a topper that can either be for Father’s Day, or any other occasion you want for your Dad.

It has a golf theme and I have included the file for the bag with Dad cut out of it or for the bag and the words separate – both bag and words also have a mat just in case you want one.

Hope you can use it
