Mat Feed problem SDX & DX Machines

Have you suffered with a mat mis-feeding into your machines or even not feeding into it?

I have posted a link on YouTube with how I have overcome this problem : https://youtu.be/RxlvzH9XWw4

It is a very simple process of “shaving off” a tiny piece of the leading edge of the mat – the bit that feeds into the rollers. I think over time the rollers pinch the edge and maybe flatten it, not sure. I found that by running a pair of opened sharp scissors along the leading edge it resolved the problem and my mat now loads like a brand new one.

The secret is to only take the most miniscule amount off and try loading it before going any further plus make sure you clean any debris off before trying to load it. It took me 3 goes to achieve this but you could well do it on the 1st or 4th time, just remember you can take more off but you can’t put more back on so error on the side of caution each time.

Hope this gives hope and life back to your old mats. I have to say I a delighted as they aren’t cheap so I can continue to use my old, well used mat for things that aren’t too intricate and basic cutting and keep my new ones for really special cuts.

Happy Crafting

  1. Nice blog with lots of info and files for the ScanNCut. I see you have upgraded from the CM model to the SDX, but, wonder if you have any ideas why my CM600 will not recognise any of my mats (including a brand new one and an unused Scanning Mat). My machine was working well and then carefully stored for about 4 years. I’ve cleaned the scanning glass etc., but no luck. I have been all over the internet looking for a solution and since you obviously know a lot about the machines, just thought I would ask.

    • Hello Mo

Thank you for your lovely comment, I am not sure what to suggest regarding your CM600 other than have you possibly bought the wrong mats, those for the SDX machines rather than the CM ones? If you send me a photo of the mat I could tell you.

Also not sure if it was you who asked about the place I bought my machine in France – it was Crétiv-Découpe.com they are great, delivery very fast and when you buy a machine you get free postage for life on anything from their range such as pen holders, mats etc.

Let me know how you get on

      • Many thanks for responding to my message. Thank you for the info re where you purchased in France. I appreciate that. As for my mats, no, they are the right ones for sure. I bought them with my machine years ago, some were unused. No idea why it worked when I put it away for a while and now won’t load the mats. Oh well, I guess I will have to hope I can afford another machine one day. Thanks again.
