About Me

IMG_1807-001

Hello, my name is Anne and I thought I would like to share some of the files I have made for use on my Brother Scan N Cut machine.  The files are in both .fcm and .svg so anyone who has another make of die cutting machine can use them as well.  The files are free for you to download and all I ask is that you don’t post them or sell them as your own.

I live in Lower Normandy, France with my 2 dogs, 3 cats, horse, donkey and various chicken.

We live in  a beautiful late 15th early 16th century manor house which was believed to have been the hunting lodge for the nearby château.

When we moved here 10 years ago we renovated a lot of the house and at the same time created a gîte in part of the property which we let out all year round – see my blog Gîte in Lower Normandy France for more details.

I am an English teacher and teach English to business professionals at the ISF in the University of Alençon.

My passion is crafting, in particular card making and I also love creating cutting files for use on my Brother Scan n Cut using Adobe Illustrator.

I hope in time to be able to share both some of my cutting files and also some video clips on how I created them.

In the meantime, I hope you enjoy browsing my blog and enjoying some of my creations.

  1. Hi Anne, firstly, thank you so much for your info. I am new to Scan n Cut and your files are fantastic. Secondly, I am so envious. We L O V E France, especially Normandy. We holiday there once or twice a year, and if we were younger, may have even taken Le Plunge”
Thank you again Anne, you are a great source of inspiration.

    • Hello Sue, thank you so much for your lovely remarks. I am happy to answer any questions you may have (provided I can, of course!). Nothing is too trivial I assure you.

As for moving to France, I wasn’t that young when I did it so never say never! If ever you fancy a relaxing holiday in Normandy I actually have a gite which is very beautiful – we could craft together!

All the very best for the season and every good wish for 2015

  2. Hi Anne
I have just discovered your blog. I love it and have downloaded your fcm files ,,Xmas tree and watering can.. Can’t wait to try them out. Your life sounds wonderful. I live in boring Brisbane,Queensland.Australia. I love craft..sewing,painting but especially making cards for family and friends. I’ll be in touch now that I found you. Thankyou so much for the inspiration. Yours Carol Donald

    • Hi Carol,
Thank you so much for the kind comments. I certainly wouldn’t say it is boring in Australia, it is a place I would dearly love to visit.
I am very happy you have downloaded some of the files already and hope you can make great use of them.

I must apologise to you and all my followers that I haven’t downloaded anything of late but unfortunately sometimes life gets in the way of crafting – I haven’t made a card in the last couple of months and really miss crafting. I will however make a promise to you all and to myself that soon my house will again be covered in bits of card, paper, and the dog & cats will be sporting the latest trend – glittery coats!

      Happy Crafting xx

  4. Hi Anne – I am really interested in your Article “How Well Do you Know Your Brother”
I am going to give it a try. Just one question did you use the same design for every cut and how intricate was it? I have also changed my e-mail as below. Many thanks.
    Carol

    • Hi Carol, No, I probably didn’t use the same design but I did my experiment using relatively intricate cuts as I knew that if it worked with an intricate cut then it would be a piece of cake with a straight forward cut.

I can’t tell you how much easier my life is now, I don’t think I have had a problem cutting ever since and I just add to my spread sheet when I use media. It has also helped using new media for the first time as I have got a much greater insight into what I should be doing.

I am also now a huge advocate of using minus pressure, if it is a bit too low the pressure it is easier to increase it by 1 rather than trash a piece of card.

      kind regards Anne

  5. Hi Anne,

  6. Hello Anne, I stumbled across your blog because I am desperately trying to find a solution to my problem: my nephew kindly bought me a 60 cm mat for my scan’n’cut, but it’s for the CM models and I have the SDX1200. Do you know if the code at the top of the mats differ for the 30 cm and the 60 mats ? Thanks for whatever info you can provide. PS : I, too, am an anglo living in France (Canadian/English living just east of Avignon).

    • Hi Mary-Jane, that was kind of him but sadly they are quite different (typical!) The SDX mats are different in that they can only be installed into the machine one way in and they have barcodes that are read by the machine.

I have a post on here (and YouTube) on how to copy the top of an SDX mat to use on a CM mat but I have not actually added the file for fear I would be contravening some sort of legal thing.

I get my mats from a company in France called Créative Découp and they are very good or possibly now at Craftellier. You must be very sure you order the correct one.

Hope this helps and stay safe in these uncertain times.
